But those were exciting battles! Surprising maneuvers, artillery barrages, heavy cavalry charges, fierce infantry firefights, heroic bayonet charges, command dilemmas and, above all, lots and lots of fun!Saturday’s summer mini-tournament provided a lot of good emotions and joy for the participating players. Importantly, all 4 currently available armies participated in the tournament: Union (Army of the Potomac), Confederacy (Army of Northern Virginia), Great Britain (Colonial Army) and France (Army of Italy).
In the first clash, the British, led by Wojtek Kołomański aka Borororo, clashed with the Union troops led by Marek Duderson Duda. It was by far the fiercest battle of the tournament, both sides fought valiantly for their goals – at the end of the battle there were only a few brigades left on the battlefield of any combat value! The result was 29 to 10 for Wojtek (3: 0 in “big”, tournament points).
In a parallel battle I (Torgill) had the opportunity to lead the French army and play against Mirosław Kuśnierz vel Tancreddebeauville, who commanded the Confederacy. Mirek is not an experienced player, so this game was a bit of a learning experience for him as well. As it is with learning, it can be painful at times – the Confederate army suffered a definite defeat. Score 29 to 1 for France (4:0).
In the second round of battles, Duderson faced Mirek. Confederate cavalry showed a lot of bravery. By the way, we also recommend Mirek’s blog post, who described his battles at the tournament: https://tancreddebeauville.com/…/gods-of-war-lee…/In the end, Union artillery and Duderson’s experience made the win: Union won 18 to 3 (3:0 in big tournament points).
In the last battle, I played against Borororo. The battle was full of unexpected maneuvers and bloody attacks. Borororo quickly mastered the center of the battlefield and most strategic points, so I had to attack them (as usual in many of my battles…). One of the decisive moments was the charge of cuirassiers and hussars. Admittedly, both of these cavalry brigades also lost all cohesion altogether, but they destroyed three colonial infantry brigades and an artillery base. The final result was also helped by the fact that Borororo choose the cautious tactics of the army, thanks to which he scored fewer points than he could if he had taken a neutral one. The result: 22:14 (2:1) for France, although the battle was very even.
Final table:
Torgill (France) – 6
Borororo (UK) – 4
Duderson (Union) – 3
Mirek (Confederacy) – 0
The table, however, is less important, because the most important was having a great time in a good company.
I would like to thank Duderson, Borororo and Mirek for coming and playing, and Bolter.pl for hosting our tournament.
Finally, let me mention that we are planning to resume the game campaign in the fall. As in the case of last year’s campaign, every player will be able to take part in it – all you need to do is play a battle and write a short battle report from it. But we will inform you about the details closer to the start of the league.Have a nice afternoon!
